Claire has been working for Resonance FM since 2004, and producing On the Fringe (originally Theatre Radio) in one form or another since 2005. Over that time she has created nearly 100 shows and interviewed many people involved in London’s fringe/OWE theatre scene, as well as Terence McNally, Howard Barker, Howard Brenton and Lyn Gardner. She has also produced and presented for Radio Fox in Leicester and as part of Overture Radio for the reopening of the South Bank Centre in 2007, and has written for a number of magazines including City Lights and Vertigo.

Claire is also deviser and co-producer of The Smoking Cabinet - a festival of cabaret and burlesque cinema featuring films all made before 1933.

Double award-winning On the Fringe is an exciting magazine programme all about the city’s non-west end theatre scene featuring live extracts from fringe shows; documentaries; news about writers / directors / designers / productions; reviews and discussion and regular updates from the Fringe Theatre Network. The show is presented by producer Claire Cooke with a probing panel of theatre experts.

The main focus of the On the Fringe is the venues - regional and central - which make up the fringe / OWE - offering opportunities for new, experimental, established, community and non-profit driven work; spaces which also operate as a border crossing between amateur groups, new starters and professional theatre-making in London.

Last year On the Fringe won Critic’s Choice in The Independent radio listings and Best Broadcaster at the FringeReport Awards 2007. It has now finished its spring 2008 run and will return on Resonance FM in September. In the meantime the plan is get all 2006 / 2007 broadcasts online too.
